Reston, Va. – Marcus Schriner, Wind Operations Supervisor with DTE Energy been awarded the 2023 Ross Newlin Achievement Award, given by the Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) for his ongoing contributions in leading advancement efforts of the technical and operations sectors of the renewable energy industry.
Named for wind industry pioneer Ross Newlin, the award was recently presented during ESIG’s annual Fall Operations and Maintenance Users Group meeting held in Fort Worth, Texas.
“Marcus is the kind of person who makes a difference in his organization and the renewables industry”, says Ninochska Bosworth, chair of the O&M Users Group. “He reflects the image of the Newlin Award by minimizing redundancies, highlighting efficiencies, and engaging others in a collaborative effort so everyone is heard.”
Schriner, a graduate from DeVry University, has more than 13 years of experience in the wind industry. He began his career as a Wind Technician with EnXco (now EDF Renewable Services) at the Benton County Wind Farm in norther Indiana, quickly rising to Senior Wind technician while traveling to other wind sites across the U.S., then shortly thereafter becoming a Site Supervisor at Gratiot County Wind Farm in mid-Michigan. He later joined DTE Energy, Michigan’s largest utility company, and has contributed significantly to the rise of Michigan’s renewable energy landscape.
According to Bjorn Hedges (Chair Emeritus of ESIGs O&M Users Group), the Ross Newlin Annual Achievement Award was created in 2012 when the board of directors named its Operations and Maintenance Annual Achievement Award after wind industry veteran, Ross Newlin. Newlin, a long-time employee of EnXco Service Corporation, passed away in July 2011 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
