Topics covered by this working group are biased towards the longer term and include the incorporation of a high share of renewable energy in the future energy supply, and the understanding and analysis of the interactions among energy systems (electric, fuel, thermal) and other infrastructures (transportation, water, communication and data systems). Specific related projects include the roadmapping activities associated with the Towards 100% workshop, and the Global Power System Transformation (G-PST) initiative. The educational needs for the present and future challenges are also covered, as is the development of a massive, open, on-line course (MOOC).
Members of the Research & Education Working Group are encouraged to interact with one another via Groups.IO, an online discussion platform and community network. The ESIG Resource Library is also a valuable tool for those seeking information on Research & Education, as well as other topics. Additionally, the Research and Education Group supports access to free, high-quality educational materials for professionals of all tenure within the broad energy integrations and power systems engineering industries.
